This is me playing with amazon river dolphin "Baby".

He is over 37 years old and lives at Zoo Duisburg.
It is the only boto in a zoo outside of South America!

I remeber seeing him when I was about... 7. It's one of the few memories I still have of that zoo. Lovely photo :)

I am glad you like it :D I am so happy Kalialover took it. We always have great fun playing with Baby. I see him every week but he is not always in a playful mood. Those memories are extremely precious. When did you see him? Which year?

In 1996 or 94, but I don't remeber exactly. I'd have to look at the date on the photos my father took back then.

Es ist früh und ich bin zu faul, weiter auf Englisch zu denken... Kann man das Becken zufällig auch von außen einsehen? Ich hab so eine vage Erinnerung von einer riesigen (vielleicht ist sie auch gar nicht so groß, ich war halt noch klein) Scheibe mit einer Art Vordach, kann aber auch sein, dass ich da was verwechsle. Und ich als völlig delfinvernarrtes Kind steh davor und schaue und staune, als plötzlich ein Delfin aus trüb-grünen Tiefen auftaucht. Aber ist halt schon eine Weile her ^^"

naja also 1994-96 waren die 2 ja noch in diesem sehr kleinen Becken im Aquarium. 2005 sind sie aber umgezogen in die Rio Negro Tropenhalle. Das Becken dort ist über 3 Meter tief und fasst 600 000 Liter Wasser.
Da starb Vater 2005 an Altersschwäche mit mindestens 45 Jahren. Hier sind einige Beckenansichten:

He reacts totally to it. To the movement. But you can also move your hand, a plushie, a magazine or a leaf in front of the glass - he will mostly come over to check it out.
