My new budgies. He is called Daisuke. Thats japanese and means "great help", and she is called Miku which means "beautiful sky". Do not take my photos without permission.

they are so wonderful, looking so smooth! :aww: are they very young? I thought that it is ease to recognize male and female of this bird species due colour of their beaks! Females have brown and male blue, is this a fact?

But in their case, colours of their beaks look very similar :D

hm im with woxys, i think the beaks skin looks a bit darker by daisuke, but mikus look a bit blue too :)

yes, they are about 10-12 weeks old.
Females have white/light blue skin. If they are in a mating/breeding mood the nose becomes light or even dark colored brown.
Males have a dark blue or purple nose.
That way you can easily see that Miku is female and Daisuke male.

Yeah, not only the noses are different if you look closely at the photo. Also the behaviour of Miku is clearly that of a female and Daisuke behaves typically male. ;)

You'll really find this funny, but keep in mind that I was a little girl, okay? I thought the bird's name was budgie....I didn't know that they WERE budgies!!!! Guess Grandma didn't know what to name him and so that's what his name was...Budgie! Not very original and very confusing to a little girl....until she grew up and learned! :rofl:
