That picture should remind everyone that budgies are flock birds and only really happy when kept in groups.
I know that some people have not the possibilities to keep that many, me included, but all people who are able to keep one can also keep two of them. In modern budgie books I always found this rule of thumb: One bird is none bird. And I heavily agree. Also do not clip the wings of your bird. Birds have wings to fly with them! If you clip the wings, the bird becomes disabled and handicapped! You want a bird that cannot fly? Buy a penguin... No ...seriously - make the room safe in which you keep your budgie not the other way round. And dont force it to become tame by clipping its wings so that it cannot fly away anymore. There are better ways to get your bird into trusting you. Those budgies were together with many friends inside a huge aviary at the zoo of Duisburg. |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. I completely agree. So many selfish owners want their animals to be perfect and everything.
On tv I heard a dog trainer say, when he asks people what their dog should be able to do, they name so many things, like "to listen", "be friendly", "be vivid, funny, caring, watchdog"... and so on.
But when he asked the people what they want to do for their dog, they only mention that they need to feed him and take him for a walk... and thats it.
There are so many other things one can do for the animal than just to feed it.

man, what kind of idiots would cut bird's wings? O.O they must be really cruel to animals, like my sister is -_-;
what you said is true, it's better to keep at least two birds, and I wouldn't mind keeping 10 or more, since I adore them, but it's really impossible if there are some members of the family that hate animals -_-;;
